Fantasise and dream!

What are you hoping for the future? What is your biggest dream? What makes you happy?

You are allowed to dream and fantasise and pursue things that are meaningful to you. Mental health challenges are not a reason to give up dreaming.

Dreaming is the fuel that makes us set goals for life and strive forward. If a person’s dreams are taken away, he is deprived of a large part of the meaning of life.

If your goal is to climb Mount Everest one day, the highest mountain in the world, consider what the first steps are that you will take. Perhaps you need to get in better physical condition, save money for equipment and travel tickets, or practise climbing. Every little step on the way brings you closer to the dream and its realisation.

Break down your dreams into smaller goals and take as small steps as necessary.

We need our dreams. Even unfulfilled dreams can produce amazing progress stories and life paths.

No one is allowed to invalidate or pan your dreams. Hold on to your dreams, you have the right to do so!

Uncertainty is part of life

We can never be completely sure of the future. Something good can happen or something bad can happen. Recovery may go well or there may be more difficult phases of an illness. Not even the professionals know everything.

Former president Mauno Koivisto (b. 1923 – d. 2017) said: “If we do not know for sure what will happen, let us assume that everything will turn out well”.

It is not stupid or childish to believe that things will always turn out for the best. It is more likely that things will go well when we believe they will. Why is this?

What we believe guides our actions. If we believe that things are going badly, we become paralysed, stagnate and do not even try to move forward. If, on the other hand, we believe that things are going well, we behave and do things accordingly. We move forward. That is why you should always assume that life will turn out well in the end, even if it doesn’t seem likely today.
