Welcome to Mahis – A Warm Community for Newcomers in Vaasa!
Are you new to Vaasa and looking to make new friends? Our multicultural group at Mahis is here for you! We warmly invite you, whether you’re an immigrant, a newcomer, or simply curious to connect with others in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Join us for a relaxed evening where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, sink into a comfy couch, and chat with others – or simply listen if you prefer. Whether you come alone, with friends, family, or children, we aim to offer you a cozy space where connections blossom, peer support flourishes, and conversations flow naturally.
Since spring 2024, we’ve been meeting regularly and have welcomed nearly 20 people from across the globe. Each gathering is a chance to share stories, experiences, and laughter with others on a similar journey.
When and Where?
We meet once a month from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. While the dates vary, the atmosphere remains warm and inviting. A mix of Mielle’s staff and volunteers host the group, giving you the chance to meet not only fellow immigrants but also some friendly Finns!
What Happens in Our Meetings?
The themes and topics are always shaped by our participants. So far, we’ve delved into Finnish culture, played outdoor games together, and shared experiences that matter most to our members.
